Van hire tip - cut your insurance costs

At the budget end of car or van hire, which is where most of the windsurfing friendly places are, insurance costs can be almost half the total rental rate at around $10-$20 per day. If you’re in Maui for long enough to make it worthwhile, it’s worth looking at arranging a separate insurance policy which can be far cheaper. (See some links here if you’re coming from the UK.)
Make sure you check in advance that the place you’re hiring from will accept it! Over a month this could save you a few hundred dollars.
